Adeline B. "Johnny" Anderson, 85, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on April 15, 2011. Johnny, one of 11 children, was born to Julia and Charles Dylla in Wells, MN on December 17, 1925. She married Joseph J. "Joe" Anderson of Easton, MN on September 10, 1949.

Betty M. Casper

CASPER, Betty M., Betty, our beloved mom, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2011 at Sacred Heart Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born and raised in Chewelah, WA by Leo and Mary Vogt on October 16, 1930. Betty was a longtime resident of Spokane, WA. She attended Holy Names Academy and went on to Graduate from SFCC with two AAS degrees. Betty will be missed by her three children: Robert Casper, Debra Carrell and Dawn Thompson. Her daughter Denise Brophy preceded her in death. Betty had six grandchildren: Beth, Ben, Charley, Kodi, Skye and Torrey; and eleven great-grandchildren. Betty was always very thoughtful, loving and known to be caring and willing to give to others at any time. Betty loved yard work, puzzles, going to hockey games and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her loved ones. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00am at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Spokane.


 


 

Cary Heth

Passed away April 13, 2011 at Sunshine Gardens after a year long struggle with many health issues. He was born October 6, 1932 in Spokane, WA to Cary Seldon and Etta Mae Heth. He joined the, when he was 18 and served as a chaplain's assistant during the, . Cary was a graduate of Eastern Washington University and furthered his education at Whitworth and, . He taught History and English at many schools in eastern Washington. Cary went from teaching to administration with the Community Colleges of Spokane where he retired as a Dean of the Institute of Extended Learning. While retired, he felt a calling to ministry so he pursued a master's degree in pastoral ministry at Gonzaga University. Following his heart, Cary became a deacon for the Catholic Church serving the Spokane diocese at St. Mary's. In this role, he volunteered for the Spokane Valley Food Bank, did communion services at Good Samaritan nursing home and Valley Hospital. He was a chaplain for Hospice of Spokane where he was named Chaplain of the Year for 2005. Cary is survived by his wife Joann; sisters: Caryl (Doug) Klein, Cathy Blackwell; son Mark (Debbie) Heth; daughters: Karen (Tim) Wright, Patti (Colin) Woodbridge; step-sons: Robert (Chris) Schultz, Ron (Carrie) Schultz; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brandon) Julian, Matthew (Toni) Woodbridge, Andrew (Katie) Heth, Melissa (Jason) Woodbridge, Ryan Heth; step-grandchildren: Anthony Schultz, Caitlin Schultz, Riley Schultz, Bailey Schultz; great-grandchildren: Colin and Halle Woodbridge, Cole Julian; and a large extended family. Preceded in death by Mark (Abunk) Hambrook, Cary and Louise Heth, Etta Mae Morgan, Colin Woodbridge and Annie Heth. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sunshine Gardens, Physical Therapist Michael Allen and Dr. Sima Issen for their outstanding care in the past year. Passed away peacefully on April 9, 2011. She was born in Galesburg, Illinois, and graduated from the, where she met Bob her husband of 61 years. Her first job out of college in an animal research lab exposed her to the atrocities of animal research. She quit that job and became a chemistry teacher, coach, and life-long Animal RIghts and Animal Welfare advocate. Her religion was Veganism. "Animals are not ours to eat, wear, or experiment on" was the motto she lived by., Chris Anderlik, along with her husband Bob, co-founded the group "For Animals" in Traverse City, Michigan where she earned the Lifetime Humanitarian Award from the Michigan Humane Association. She and Bob moved to Liberty Lake in 2001, became President and then Executive Secretary of the "Animal Advocates of the Inland Northwest"., Chris did not want a service, and please no flowers or gifts. David Diemert

With his family by his side, David Darcy Diemert, a loved father, son, brother, uncle and loyal friend, went to be with the angels in heaven on April 7, 2011. He was born March 21, 1950 in Wahpeton, ND. He attended Captain Gray School, Pasco, WA - Kindergarten; St. Patrick's Grade School, Pasco, WA; St. Thomas Grade School, Coeur d'Alene, ID; IHM High School, Coeur d'Alene, ID - graduated 1968; Spokane Community College (AA in Accounting). He worked in Iowa for his uncle Dean until July of 1969. In July, 1969 he joined the US Navy and served 20 years, first as an Electronics Technician, and later as an Avionics Technician. He was stationed in Lemoore, CA, flying reconnaissance over Europe and the Middle East. He was stationed at Rota, Spain for eight years, during which time he enjoyed extensive travel throughout the Mediterranean region, visiting Greece, Turkey, Italy, Germany, and Cypress. He served aboard the USS Enterprise, the Commander Attack Carrier Striking Force Seventh Fleet, in Tonkin Gulf during the, , serving as crew chief on various aircraft. In May, 1984 he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for the Invasion of Grenada. He retired from the Navy in 1989. He moved back to Spokane, WA, earned an AA degree in Accounting from Spokane Community College, and worked for the City of Spokane for 10 years, retiring in 2000. David loved flying and was a private and commercial pilot. He was also an avid reader. David is survived by his daughter, Jill Diemert of Hoboken, NJ; son Sean Diemert of Spokane, WA; his mother and stepfather, Rose and Frank Cheyney of Spokane, WA; his brothers, Rick and wife Sarah Diemert of Denver, CO, Jim and wife Roberta Diemert of Roseburg, OR, Randy and wife Carol Diemert of Rathdrum, ID, Lindsay Diemert of Liberty Lake, WA, Jon Diemert of Spokane, WA, Frankie Cheyney of Gilbert, AZ, and Daniel and wife Devonia Cheyney of Stanwood, WA; his sisters, Debroah and husband Thomas Jansen of Beaverton, OR, Gina and husband Jim Downhour of Spokane Valley, WA, Annette and husband Kevin Hayes of Otis Orchards, WA, Julie Crisp of Spokane Valley, WA; nieces Virginia Marie (deceased), Melissa, Traci, Niki, Melissa, Erin, Jenna, Brittany, Jackie, Katrina, Emilee, Ariana; nephews Ricky, Dean, Jeremiah, Casey (deceased), Kevin, Chad, Christopher, Paul, Jared, Dustin, Trevor, and Seth; numerous great-nieces and nephews. David Joseph Shore

David Joseph Shore passed away following an extended illness. He was a devoted and treasured husband, father, grandfather, and friend., He was born in Portland, OR on August 14, 1918 to David and Margaret Shore. Immediately following his graduation from the, in 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Harriet Bryant. After a brief period of travel with the military, they settled in Seattle in 1946. They had four children. In 1955, they moved to Mukilteo where they lived in the family home until 1979. Upon retirement, Decatur Island became home for ten years, where they shared the joys of island life with family and friends., Dave practiced dentistry for 45 years. He was dedicated to his profession and belonged to several study groups throughout his career ever advancing his dental stills which he so loved., Dave's life was always full of family adventures which included extensive skiing, sailing on the Shor-e-nuff, camping and fishing trips and golf. He was very active at the Everett Golf and Country Club. From being a past president of the Washington State Golf Association to being recognized in 2008 with a perpetual trophy established in recognition to his putting expertise (and luck). These are examples of his love for golf and the associated fellowship., Dave was preceded in death by the love of his life and best friend, Harriet. He leaves behind a loving family: his children, Peg Hollandsworth, Betty (Neil) Martinson, Dave (Blake) Shore and Bill (Julie) Shore; grandchildren, Jodie Bisenius, Karl, Paul and Peter Martinson, Brennan and Cassidy Shore and Amanda and Alex Shore; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Bisenius. Edmond Earl Dunn Of Tacoma, Washington, passed on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at St Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma. The son of the late Hezekiah Dunn Sr and Ethel Clark Dunn was born May 5, 1928 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1968. He worked for Puget Sound National Bank for 22 years before retiring in 1992. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1939 and was a member of the New Apostolic Church. Edward Wynn Dunn

Edward Wynn Dunn, (Age 62) went to be the Lord our Savior on April 11, 2011. Born to David and Helen (Boals) Dunn on January 1,1949 in Highland Park, MI. where he grew up and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1967., In 1972 Ed enlisted in the, , where he served his country for 20 years. He toured Korea and Greece and served in the Persian Gulf War. After Ed retired from the Air Force in 1992, he earned his Associates Degree from SFCC, and his Bachelors' Degree in Business Management and Human Resources from EWU. Ed enjoyed spending time with his wife at Dishman Dodge and Golden Corral. After a meal at Golden Corral they would cruise Division to show off his Dodge Challenger. They also enjoyed their vacations in Seaside, OR and Leavenworth, WA especially during the Christmas Season. He loved the Lord and shared the message of salvation with all who came into his life. Ed was grateful for his family and spoke highly of each of his family members. Ed was survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Conlon) Dunn of 35 years. His seven children, Jeanie, Michelle, Stacy, Rhonda, Jennifer, David, and Annessa, and seventeen grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. A Celebration of Life will be held at Berean Bible Church 10910 E. Boone Ave, Spokane, WA on April,20th at 1:00pm.


 


 

Frank Russell Mace

Frank, or Russ as he was known to many, is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcia Lee Mace; three children, Russell Frank Mace of Cheney, WA, Lenard L. Mace of Spokane Valley, WA and Sara Kay Mace/DeLong of St. John, WA; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred M. Nickeson. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Lockhart who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, as well as nieces and nephews. Frank was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and lived in that area until his parents Samuel and Goldie Mace moved the family to the Deer Park , WA area and then later to Medical Lake where Frank graduated from high school in 1937. Frank was a Prisoner of War for 44 months having been captured on Wake Island shortly following the WWII attack at Pearl Harbor. Upon returning home, he met and married Marcia Lee Peterson of Four Lakes, WA on April 11, 1946. Frank spent many years in the construction industry, worked in real estate, and later after a very serious accident which prevented his return to construction work, completed his BA degree in Education at EWU and taught high school shop and math classes in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, until he retired in 1988. For the past 65 years he has lived in Four Lakes, Cheney, and Spokane and then returned to Cheney for the last 15 years. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Cheney Care Center, Hospice of Spokane, the VA Hospital, the American Ex-Prisoners of War, and the Military Order of the, for the excellent care provided in the final few years of Frank's life. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 1:00PM at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 West Wellesley Avenue, Spokane, WA 99205. MAIER, Gary E., Died April 14, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Spokane, WA. He was born April 11, 1951 in Dayton, WA to Wesley E. and Ramona M. Maier. He served his country in the U.S., during the Vietnam Conflict. He had recently been employed in sales for the Washington State Troopers Magazine. Gary was the life of the party, always wearing a smile and willing to give you the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by a son, Jordan Maier, Tillamook, OR; a daughter MacKenzie K. Maier, Salem, OR; one grandchild; three sisters, Marcella K. (Randy) Wilcox, Laurel J. Nill, Kelly A. Gary Lee Lynch

Gary Lee Lynch will be missed. He went to be with dad, mumsy, and his dogs on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. All of his jokes, shenanigans, resourcefulness, love for cars and big heart for his family and friends will be missed. He was a stubborn Irishman born February 23, 1945, and it showed as he persevered through his illness to the end. George F. Gilstrap

Passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2011. George was born in Burke, Idaho on April 12 1925 to George R. and Hester Gilstrap. He served in the, during, . George was an employee of Washington Water Power Co. for 32 years, retiring as a line foreman in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Sonya, and his children: Elaine, Beth, Theresa, Greg, and Jane. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and a 10th great-grandchild is due to arrive soon. George was grateful for the homebound ministry and prayers received through Assumption Parish. LOZIER, Gertrude G., Gertrude G. Lozier passed away April 13, 2011 in Spokane. She was born August 11, 1918 in Tacoma. Gertrude called the Spokane area home for over 50 years. She was an active member of South Hill Bible Church in Spokane for many years. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Lozier in 1998 and her daughter Judith Lozier in 2008. She is survived by her son David (Nani) Lozier of Pleasanton, CA; grandchildren Dione Hoover and Tara Bell; and great-grandchildren Cassius and Angelo Bell. Gladys Rowena (Bowen) Holmer

Gladys Holmer, 99, of Snohomish, WA passed away on April 11, 2011., Gladys was born on June 3, 1911 at the family home in the Marshland area near Snohomish to Gwenllian and Thomas Bowen. Gladys attended Marshland and Snohomish Schools. In 1935 Gladys married Gustav Holmer., She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Gustav; her mother, Gwenllian; and father, Thomas; her sisters, Alice Mae and Barbara Jean; and brothers, Charles and Edward., Gladys worked most of her working life in the food service business. In the early 1940's Gladys and Mary McGinn owned and operated Mona's Café on First Street in Snohomish. Next, Gladys worked for Swenson's Auction in Snohomish where she operated the lunch counter. In 1957 Gladys went to work for Don and Dan Britton at Britton Brothers Auction managing the lunch counter until the auction house closed in 1990., Gladys had a passion for cooking for her family and friends, and she was happiest when surrounded by them. One of her greatest joys was her twin grandsons, Brent and Brian. She loved her "tea party time" with nieces, Sally and Brook. Our family matriarch was lovingly wrapped into the wings of angels and placed into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her devoted family. Helen is now in heaven with her husband, Arnold W. "Bill" Borley, son Francis C. "Chris" Borley, and her parents Frank and Alice Burger, who preceded her in passing., Helen Lou leaves a legacy as a loving wife, mother, sister, and "Nonnie" to her family. She is survived by five children: Tom Borley (Marilyn) of Pahrump, NV; Mary Morrill (Greg) of Morgan Hill, CA; Kathy Lund (Eddie) and Julie Nelson (Tom) of Modesto; Alice Nelson (Mark) of Selma, CA; sisters Mary Alice Cronin of Spokane, WA; Carol Ann Goodman of Harrison, ID; brother Frank Burger of Spokane, WA; 21 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she was an active member of Catholic Daughters for years and had a life-long abiding faith., Born and raised in Spokane, she married the love of her life, Bill Borley, in 1950. Together for 40 years until Bill's death, they moved with their six children from Spokane to Modesto in 1963., We have cherished family memories of summers spent at the family cabin in Loon Lake, WA. Henry G. Runkel Jr.

Henry (Hank) G. RUNKEL, Jr. Hank Runkel Jr. passed away peacefully on April 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 12, 1920, Hank was a Seattle native. He graduated from Garfield High School and attended the, . After serving in the US Army during, , he began a life-long career in banking with Seattle First National Bank. Hank retired in 1980 as a Sr. V.P. after 43 years of service. Dad was active in numerous charities and presided over the Pioneer Association of Washington for 25 years. Combining his love of fishing and charity, he spearheaded the annual Queen Anne-Magnolia Lion's Club blind fishing derby. He celebrated his last 28 wonderful years with Marion Johnson. Hank is survived by his five children, Gil Runkel, Art Runkel, Nancy Runkel Engel, Jon Runkel and David Runkel. He was also loved by and blessed with 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jack Dillon

Passed away April 7, 2011 in Spokane, WA, at the age of 83. Jack was born in Wichita, Kansas on Decem-ber 15, 1927. Following his father's work as an electrician at oil refineries, he said he moved too many times to count, spending most of his youth in Montana. As a high school freshman he moved to Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark and John R. Rogers High School. He excelled at tennis, winning the city singles championship. During his junior year he left school to join the service during WW II and was stationed at Fort Lewis. After the war he came back to Spokane and graduated high school in 1948. He then moved to Coulee City, WA, to help with his father's amusement machine business where he met and married Bonnie Ewell. There their son and daughter were born. In 1950 he was recalled to active duty in Korea and served in the 453rd Engineers. He recorded movies documenting his service experience and was honored by the South Korean government for this contribution. Jack was a born salesman selling everything from ice cream to classified ads at the Spokesman-Review. In Ephrata he managed the Lee Theaters, sold ads for radio stations KULE and KWIQ and sold neon signs for Heath Sign Company. Jack and Bonnie were very active in the Spokane Yacht Club. After Bonnie retired from AT&T, they moved to Friday Harbor, WA, to be near their daughter and son-in-law. Jack enjoyed adding his own touch of remodeling to his new surroundings. They purchased an RV and traveled the US. Jack and Bonnie were married 58 years. When Bonnie passed away Jack moved back to Spokane. He enjoyed hosting BBQ parties for his friends, watching old motion pictures, where he could identify every actor in every classic movie. Jack lived at the Waterford Retirement Community for his final days. He had a great time telling the staff all the stories of his life -" and there were many. We will all miss those stories Dad. Jack is survived by his son, Dan Dillon and wife, Melody of Spokane; his daughter, Jackie Armstrong and husband, Dane of Friday Harbor; granddaughters, Megan Dillon of Seattle, Jennifer and Jami Armstrong of Seattle; sister-in-law, Esther Fichera of Spokane and numerous nieces and nephews. Rest in Peace and Happy Trails Dad. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 2:00 pm, at the Greenwood Memorial Terrace. HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME 1306 N. Jackie was born on March 19, 1951 at Fairchild AFB to Jack and Nancy Retzloff. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Haight; son, Tyler; daughter, Amy and son-in-law John; nephew, Erick Kinnunen and wife Tami with their daughters Britti and Alli; and her mother, Nancy Retzloff. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack in June of 2009. Jackie passed away on the 13th of April, 2011. At her request no services will be held. John "Jack" Sherin

Jack passed away peacefully at home in Dayton, WA April 11, 2011. By his side through thick and thin was his wife, Glory, and step-daughter, Robin, loving caregivers until the very end. He was born to John and Christine Sherin in Bellingham, WA April 3, 1924. He married Helen Dix in 1942, whom preceded him in death. He proudly served his country during, on the aircraft carrier USS Cowpens. As a small business owner, Jack employed numerous people over the years in his restaurants and taverns. He loved to lobby in Olympia for Washington State gambling and played an important role in legalization. He also served as Lake Stevens, WA Sewer Commissioner for 11 years and ran for a seat on the Everett City Council., He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Glory Perry Sherin; brother, David Sherin (Dorothy); sister, Marion Nichols (Bill); three daughters, Marilyn Sherin (family friend, Irene), JoAnn Rollins (Chuck) and Shirley King; four step-children, Sherman Perry, Michael Perry (Suzanne), Rick Toussaint and Robin Helland (Ron); nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and a lifetime collection of good friends. All will miss him deeply., Jack's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kyle Terry and the wonderful staff at Dayton General Hospital for careful and considerate service to Jack when he was in their care. Joseph A. Haddad

Mr. Joseph A. Haddad passed away on February 6th, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lebanon on January 2, 1938 and moved to Hawaii in 1956 to live with his aunt. He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base until 1960. He lived in Spokane for 22 years at the Collins Apartments, and the last year in an assisted living facility. His cremation took place at Cheney Funeral Chapel and Crematory and he was buried at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. Joseph was known for his simple appreciation of life and was a gentleman to all that came in contact with him. Leonard M. Hill

On April 12th, 2011 at 6pm Leonard M. Hill passed from this Earth in Sequim, WA. He was born January 2, 1929 in Spokane and was raised here. Leonard was a friend to everyone he met and one of the kindest souls to walk this planet., His good humor and his jokes always made people smile. Leonard went to high school at Lewis and Clark and got a business degree at Kinman College. He worked for 37 years as an accountant and was with his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Obrien), who he lovingly cared for until her death from Alzheimer's in 2006., As his health failed Leonard needed to be closer to family so he moved to Sequim in 2010. A resident of Sherwood Assisted Living he was happy and very well cared for. Leonard is survived by his two sons, Larry (wife Cheryl and grandson Ian) of Ellensburg, WA and Michael (his Partner Anthony Vetro) of Sequim, WA; two sisters Kitty Johndrow of Spokane and Betty Winsett of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19 from 12-7pm with Vigil Rosary services beginning at 7pm, all at the funeral home. Lloyd "Skip" Jensen Jr.

Passed away peacefully at home on April 14th, 2011, with Vickie, his loving wife of ten years and his family, by his side. Morgan Thomas Dent

Morgan Thomas DENT Morgan Thomas Dent was called home to glory on Friday, April 8th 2011. He was born on November 13, 1987 to Callie and Michael Dent. He attended Skyline High School and graduated in 2006. He later attended college in California and Washington. Morgan was a gentle, loving and kind soul who will be sorely missed. He loved life! He loved the outdoors, especially the beach and the mountains. He was an avid hiker, camper and snowboarder. He leaves behind to mourn but also cherish the beautiful time they had with him, his parents Callie and Michael; his paternal grandparents John and Edith Dent and his maternal grandmother Shirlene Eikner. Morgan's maternal grandfather, Fred Eikner, proceeded him in death. Morgan will also we missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Orville E. Sherrard

Orville E. SHERRARD Orville passed away peacefully on March 5, 2011 at UW Medical Center from complications of stroke. He was 84. Born in Seattle on January 11, 1927, he graduated from Franklin High School and attended the University of Wash ington. A, Veteran, Orville served three years in the U.S., as a mechanic, having spent time in Germany. He also served an additional three years in the Air Corps Reserves. Orville worked as an electrician for The Boeing Company, retiring in 1993. He is survived by cousins Peggy Perez Bartholomew of Snohomish, Michael and Dennis Perez of Port Orchard, Cliff Per ez of Lake Stevens and Patrick Perez of Buckley. Orville was preceeded in death by his mother, Amelia Gangle Sherrard Man dick, step-father Steve Mandick and aunt Beverly Sherrard Per ez. Orville was a live-long lover of ballroom dancing and was a very accomplished Latin dancer. He especially loved Flamenco and Argentine Tango and spent time in Argentina studying Tango. He and his dance partners per formed at various venues, win ning many honors and awards over the years. A Celebration of Orville's Life will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 19 at Ida Culver House- Ravenna, 2315 NE 65th Street, Seattle, WA 98115. Perry Ahlf

It's with our deepest sorrow to announce the unexpected passing of Perry on April 14, 2011. Perry was born December 28, 1943 to Bud (Eugene) and Eleanor Ahlf and was a graduate of Medical Lake High School, class of 1962. Perry was a lifetime resident of Medical Lake where he lived and worked the farm his family homesteaded with his brother Bill and father Bud, who preceded him in death. Perry also had a long career with the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 2003. Perry was a truly amazing man, he loved the outdoors, hunting, four wheeling, snowmobiling and being with friends and family. But most of all he loved fishing, he never passed up the chance to fish and usually out fished everyone. He was one of a kind, if you knew him you were truly honored, he loved his family and friends deeply and in return he was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife; Jane Ahlf at the home. Children; Vic Ahlf and his wife, Colleen. Lynn Alderman and her husband John and Michelle Sullivan and her husband John, Mother; Eleanor Ahlf. Richard C. Campbell

Born May 18 1955 passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane Washington on April 8 2011. He was a man who enjoyed life to its fullest, with a strong since of adventure. He enjoyed travel, and his job as a merchant marine took him all over the world. He was tough and macho but also caring and loyal. Richard was a unique man that will be truly missed by his mother Joyce Zentz, stepfather Larry, aunts Phyllis and Joann and daughter Alea Leeteg; as well as his cousins and many loving friends. He is now in a better place, with his wife Sandra, brothers David and Dean, and his niece Monique. Services will be held at a later date.


 


 

Richard Edward Brown

Our loving son and brother went home to Jesus on December 10, 2010, born March 8, 1986 to Richard and JoAnn Brown. He was raised in Spokane where he attended Roosevelt Elem., Sacajawea and Lewis & Clark High School. He was the kindest person you could meet. He worked on boats in Alaska, at Gale Insulation and Red Robin. He was very proud to work for them and showed it, just one smile when he first met you and you knew he was a good guy. Robert Arthur Guild

GUILD, Robert, Arthur, D.O., Passed away April 15, 2011. He was born April 10, 1934 in Pendleton, OR to Arthur and Magdaline (Zeller) Guild. He grad-uated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, OR; attended Jesuit Seminary in Santa Barbara, CA before shifting gears and ultimately graduating as a doctor of osteopathic medicine. He was a practicing anesthesiologist in Michigan until his retirement in 1998 when he moved to Spokane to be closer to his grandchildren. He loved golf, the Michigan State Spartans, singing and the Lord God. He was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Spokane. He is survived by his sister Kathy (Scott) Edwards; brother Paul (Agma) Guild; children Robert (Diana), Kevin, Matthew (Karen), Susan (Kurt), and Donald (Mary); grandchildren Kristina, Kathrine, Samuel, Aurora, Maria, Mariesa; nieces and nephews Sephia, Yirigalem, Mandy, Jessica and Demitri. Roger (Leo) Gutzmer

Roger (Leo) Gutzmer, 73, went to be with the Lord on, March 31, 2011, after an unexpected battle with Creutz-Feldt Jacob disease. He was born on October 4, 1937, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Leo & Faye Gutzmer., He was the second of ten children. Roger grew up on a ranch in Chadron, Nebraska, and a dairy farm in Wisconsin. He graduated from Monroe Senior High School in 1954, then joined the Army and became a paratrooper. After leaving the Army, he worked for Burgess Battery, in Freeport, Illinois, then moved on to work at Tom's Silo Service, in Monroe, Wisconsin, and eventually bought the business. After many years of having his own business he followed his son and family to Arizona and Washington. He worked with his best friend and son, Greg, at Ace Electric for many years. Working was one of his hobbies, along with always being close to his son, so he never truly retired., He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling back to Wisconsin, going to the horse races, playing cards, watching the Packers and working. He was outgoing and had a great sense of humor with a smile that would light up the room. Roger was adored by all who met him!, Roger is now fishing in heaven with his parents Leo and Faye; brothers: Jerold and Greg; children: Alan and Roxanna., Roger is survived by his son, Greg (wife Lora) and daughter, Diana Blumer; grandchildren who were very dear to his heart: Jimmy, Jessica (Nick) Suitonu, LeAnn (Will) Touchette, Tanya and Analee; great-grandchildren: Kassadi and Kayden Suitonu, Landen and Eastyn Touchette, Tristan and Taliyah; siblings: Judy, Marilyn, Gary, Phillip, Ronald, Shirley, Dennis; many nieces, nephews, and special friend Elaine Haefer Gutzmer.


 


 

Rose R. Parker

Rose R. Parker was born September 2, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to parents Louis B. and Ruth B. Coronado. She passed away on April 7, 2011 in Everett, WA at age 87., Throughout her life, Rose enjoyed numerous activities with her family and friends but by far, her favorites were gardening and sewing., Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ruth; and her brother, Louis Coronado, Jr., She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Murray; and her son, Michael (Marlene) Adams; sister, Gloria Fishbeck; five grandchildren, Terri and husband Les Strauss, John Struder, Matthew and Michelle Adams, and Aaron Libby; two great-grandchildren, Terian (Rick) Wilson and Jeffrey (Nuvia) Strauss; and one great-great grandchild, Jeffrey M. Passed away April 9, 2011 in Elgin, IL where she had lived five years. Previously she lived many years in Spokane, WA. She was born in Drumright, OK on July 10, 1936. Sue is survived by three sons, Ray Higel of Elgin, IL, Jim Higel and Bill Higel of Spokane, WA, one daughter, Linda Hafer of Los Angeles, CA; her two brothers and two sisters. Theodore James Bravakis

Passed away April 9, 2011. He was born April 4, 1916 in Middletown, Connecticut to James and Fotene Bravakis. Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Sophea (Kakakes) Bravakis of Spokane and three siblings: Helen Velis of Westfield, MA, Ann Papandrea of Belleair Beach, FL, and Leo Bravakis of Middletown, CT. He is survived by four children: Teddie Gibbon (Lee), John Bravakis, Barbara Sloman, Susan Vizcarra; seven grandchildren: Alexia Tom, Matthew Galisa, Sergio Galisa, Jamal Galisa, Suzy Travis, Kelli Sloman and Randy Sloman and six great-grandchildren. Ted was a beloved uncle to five nieces and nephews., Ted graduated from Middletown High School and was awarded a full four-year football scholarship as quarterback to Tampa University. He served in, as a command pilot flying over 30 missions and participated in D-Day at Normandy. Ted received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Oak Leaf with Four Clusters during his Military career., Ted worked at John's Hat Shop in downtown Spokane for some years before he purchased the store in the 1950s from John Kakakes, his father-in-law., Ted joined KXLY Television and Radio in 1964 and built terrific sales teams in addition to strong relationships with clients that continue today. He remained a Sales Consultant well into his 90s., Ted loved playing golf his entire life. Among his many achievements were two holes-in-one and Club Championship status at Manito Golf and County Club. He also shot his age in tournament play at the age of 69 and continued to shoot under his age until age 90. In October 2000, Ted's picture made the front page of the sports section when at age 84 he played in the 65 and older division of the Pacific Amateur Golf Classic and won the division ., Ted was devoted husband and father and a cherished friend to all of you who knew him., A private family Greek Orthodox service was held with Military Honors at Riverside Memorial Park, Spokane, WA. A Celebration of Life reception will take place at Manito Golf and Country Club Saturday, May 7, 4-6pm. Virgil Edwin Jones

In loving memory of Virgin Edwin Jones, who passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the age of 79 years at his Clayton residence. He was born on August 15, 1931, at Sheridan, Wyoming, and has been a Clayton resident since 1942. Virgil served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Medic in the United States Army. After serving in the military, he was employed at Deer Park Pine Industries. Upon its closure in the early 1970's, Virgil worked for the Spokane County Road Dept. until retiring. Throughout the years, Virgil enjoyed working on his farm. He and his wife, Darleen, raised Hereford beef cattle and grew various crops. There are many good memories of Dad enjoying his cattle and raising hay. Our father was a man of his word. This unwaivering commitment he bestowed on his family in love and security. In Dad's last years, our Lord Jesus gave us the strength to give back to Dad that same love and security he had always given to us. We will never forget hearing Dad play his guitar and singing his favorite gospel hymns. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darleen, at the home in Clayton, WA; sons Calvin Jones and wife Starla of Goldendale, WA; Arlin Jones and wife Pamela of Clayton, WA; and daughter Gail Minden and husband Edward of Bonners Ferry, ID; brother Roscoe Jones and wife Karen of Spokane, WA; sisters Louise Heickson and husband Joseph of Loon Lake, WA; Kathleen McAter and Jean Tempro of Spokane, WA; Ila Dean Matthews of Athol, ID; and Irene Abbey of Huson, MT. Virgil enjoyed six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services honoring Virgil will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in Deer Park at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Rick McCombs officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill/Trysil Cemetery, Clayton, WA.
